Michael Nolan

Michael is an associate in the tax department and joined the firm in 2003.

Michael began his career in tax back in 1995 with Coopers & Lybrand before moving to Ernst & Young.  He specialises in advising owner managed businesses, and their owners, on a wide range of tax matters including acquisitions and disposals, reorganisations, tax investigations and tax compliance.

Michael also specialises in capital allowances and undertook a series of seminars with a number of our solicitor clients to advise them on the complex new rules regarding capital allowances for fixtures in property transactions.  The new rules are such that a failure to deal with capital allowances at the time of the transaction can lead to little or no capital allowances being available for the purchaser and a potential claw back of allowances previously claimed by the vendor.

Away from work, Michael’s time is largely taken up with his sons’ sporting exploits.  Both of Michael’s sons play rugby and Michael coaches his younger son’s football team.  However, Michael is happiest whilst watching them play rugby as he doesn’t need to pick the team or deal with queries from parents !!
