We provide the solid framework of a long established and successful business, with a large team of people who ensure that you have everything you need to do your job to the best of your ability.

Unlike a larger, multi-location, firm, we all work closely together, from Director to new start and all of your colleagues will support you in your development.  Helping you gain your professional qualifications is really important to us and we meet the costs and have some creative ideas about how to help you meet your goals.

You can read more about this in our graduate recruit testimonials below.

“I began my training contract at Milne Craig in 2015 following a degree in Accounting & Finance at University. The most challenging part of becoming a Chartered Certified Accountant is undoubtedly balancing your new working life with studying for your ACCA exams. It is this demand on your time that makes Milne Craig’s attitude towards a trainee’s working day so advantageous for the trainee. Finishing your working day as per the contracted hours allowed me to keep on top of my studies and pass my exams. Milne Craig realises that they must be accommodating during the traineeship in order to get the best out of the students. I was given constant support from senior colleagues which has been invaluable.

Milne Craig also employ a sensible approach to the trainees which is based on both your working performance and not just your exam performance which may not always be the case elsewhere.

Following my trainee contract, I have continued to work in the Audit & Accounts department for 4 years and I now have a wide variety of work including year-end accounts, managing audits, management accounts and assist the other trainees in our department. “

“I joined Milne Craig as a graduate tax trainee. My training contract began at Cook & Co in 2016 and when the firms merged in 2018 I moved over to Milne Craig to complete my training.

The firm supported me through training by ensuring I had quality practical experience to support my studying but also sufficient time to study with manageable workloads particularly around exam times. There was also great opportunity to learn from the team of experienced tax advisers in our tax department.

One of the benefits of training in a firm of this size is that from an early stage you are fully involved in all aspects of the client relationship. This provides you with well-rounded training not only in technical areas but in developing soft skills such as communication and problem-solving. Both of these are crucial in a career in tax.

Since completing my training in 2019 I have remained with the firm, now as a tax manager, and continue to develop my knowledge and experience through more technical work and also in the training of new tax trainees.“
